9/5/2023 0 Comments The notebookAfter Noah returns to Seabrook Island, he sees that the house where he and Allie almost made love as teenagers is rundown. Noah also builds Allie's dream house without consulting her first. In today's world, that would be equivalent to sending someone a text every day despite not getting any response the person on the receiving end of the texts would most likely be immensely annoyed and creeped out. So the fact that Noah keeps on writing to Allie despite not getting any responses is creepy and obsessive. In general, if one doesn't receive a response after writing a few letters, that is a sign that the other party is not interested. It turns out that Allie's disapproving mother was intercepting them, which is why Allie never writes back, but Noah doesn't know that. Noah writes to her every day, but he doesn't get a response. Allie and Noah's summer romance comes to an end when Allie and her family return to Charleston. Noah's Ferris wheel act is only one example of his inappropriate behavior in The Notebook. If someone in real life attempted to do what Noah did, they would have been, at best, thrown out of the carnival and, at worst, arrested. Noah not only put Allie in a traumatizing situation, but he also could have caused collateral damage. There's a reason why only a certain number of people are allowed in a gondola, and when Noah jumps on it, he could have caused it to fall off the Ferris wheel, which would have injured or killed all three of them. Not only is it abusive, but it's also incredibly dangerous for the other person in the gondola with Allie. Putting her in that position is manipulative, emotionally abusive and downright disgusting. He's essentially telling her that if she doesn't go out with him, she will be responsible for his injuries. Continuing to pursue Allie in a generic manner would have been bad enough, but Noah takes it to the next level by threatening to maim himself if she continues to refuse to go out with him. From that point on, Noah's persistent behavior falls into the category of harassment. Even one of Allie's friends tells him to leave Allie alone. After he asks Allie if she wants to dance and she says no, that should have been the end of it.
